The Littles
About:
By Jon Peterson
“Grammie, do you have any Littles on your bookcases?” My granddaughter’s enthusiastic question reminded me of this great series for young readers, particularly those making their first forays into independent reading. Her school librarian had introduced her to these engaging stories which feature a family (The Littles) very like us humans excepting their tails and small size. The Littles live in relative obscurity and peace within the walls of the Biggs’ home until the Biggs rent out their house for the summer to messy folk whose slovenly habits lead to an infestation of mice and a terrifying solution – A CAT! As in the greatest of fairytales, it is the children who step up to the rescue, showing us much about courage, friendship, and family as they meet the challenges of their everyday adventures.

A Note From Mrs. Buttons...
Over the years I have immensely enjoyed many wonderful stories with children at my work and at home. I am pleased to have the opportunity to share here some of the favorites from my bookshelf. Most of my reading/gift recommendations will be for books still readily available; from time to time, however, I will highlight a "backyard treasure" - a book that should be snapped up should you have the great good luck to see it in a yard sale!
I, by the way, concur with C. S. Lewis and George MacDonald that a "good children's book" is one that can be enjoyed at age three or fifty-three.
